Early game rushing in SupCom amounts generally to a territory (and mex) grab. However this by no means guarantees you a win, it makes your sprawling empire very vulnerable to a focused attack by say...those T3 bots he was teching to as you were taking over the world...

The massive improvement in economy from T1-T2/3 means that you can get away with being "cornered" aslong as you are ahead in tech, I'd like to see a bit of experimentation with turtling, fast teching and then "breaking out," with some pretty advanced gear.
