Well in my opinion that mass lab rush is quite easy to counter... you could maybe build 1 ghetto gunship and gain some time until i have enough AA. And you can maybe attack the eco and engs after you forced the enemy back with your gunship.
Then, SOMETIMES fake radar signatures can help, just build 12 additional Scouts to fake a big army. Or place some pieces of wall with another piece of wall behind the wall to fake a pd. Ofcourse this only works if then enemy has no Airscouts.
And you can usually defend with less costs then the other can attack if you have 1-2 PDs. After you defeated the first wave you can reclaim the stuff to gain an eco advantage. Don't try to defend the front Mexes if someone pushs to hard and just retreat to your choke point. Then fast T2 and some mobile shields mmls or tanks. AND if he hasn't t2 as fast as you have push up your eco with t2 Pgens and fabs.

@Bloodless:
Isis and Palms are very different maps, so it's clear that you need very different tactics on both maps.
Isis is a pure turtle map, where you just should defend your choke point and push up your eco. Palms is about MapControl so you need a lot of t1 units to gain the many mexes.
