As someone who as just got the game after being showcased it by a good friend of mine (I was very impressed), I am very disappointed by the attitude shown by the GPG forum moderators. It puts a sour taste in my mouth to see how they regard their own game and the people who play it and take the time to comment on it.
The fact that they locked the discussion whereby I could not comment on it makes me disenclined to ever feel the want to comment on anything. Freedom to speak about a purchased product is a fundamental right of the consumer as far as I am concerned. Not the freedom to throw insults though.
I remember playing TA Kingdoms. The mods went into an absolute denial about the dirigible being overpowered. I quit the game in boredom before they ever fixed it. Overpowered tactics with limited counters ruin a game. This seems to have all the same hallmarks although ostencibly not the same company.
Still, the supremated "After the war" mod seems to have all the things I'm looking for in this game and the people putting it together seem very responsive to the comments they recieve, abusive or not. I long to get back to Bolivia so I can try it out. I very much doubt I shall purchase the expansion I've heard about due to their current balancing practises. They could learn alot from warcraft 3 (that also gave free heros). It took a long time to get there but the company never stopped until it did - a fact that we were all aware of.
I'm not after free units that I'm expected to lavish praise on, only mutual respect between myself and those whose product I have paid for with my time and effort. They seem to be lacking.
