Does unit take xp??

Hi all, i'm new here, and this game rocks!

I only play skirmish vs AI for the moment, and i notice that, when u selected a unit, there is a little window appearing at the bottom left, showing hp,name of unit numbers of kills made by it, and little stars.
So I'm wondering is the units take xp during battles, and if they come more efficient, more rate of fire, etc

What do u think about this?
I searched and noticed that nobody speak about this...

I think first star is coming at about 30 kills, and the second about 50, one of my cruiser came to 98 kills but stayed at 2 stars, so i don't have a clue about the next one.

I think, but i'm not sure about this, that i've heared something about this in a video. That there is no XP for units... you gain all the XP (when you press F2) in the score that you have.
But as i said, i'm not sure about this so it could be wrong.

So these stars are just here to show difference between recruit units, and veteran ones?
I didn't really notice some changes between a unit with no stars, and units with 2 stars, but i think maybe with a patch they will use this system to give advantage to most experienced units, this could be great!!

Yeah, I've seen the kills icon too, but I haven't noticed any difference with the more kills you have. Probably something for a later patch.

units get up to +50% hp from veteracy. I think they used to get damage bonuses as well but I can't find it in the database.

SupCom Units Database
lists everything about every unit.

I am not sure but the damage will not be increased, but the accuracy of shooting
