Now that I'm cruising the top 200 I'm starting to really see the difference between those that battled from release to the top (such as myself), and those that started early in beta.
Now the number one complaint I hear is that beta dominates; that they have an unfair advantage over the general community. First off, thats garbage, beta players are not new to online gaming, and they should not be begrudged the wicked opportunity being a beta player is. Inherant skill, the ability to learn and think quick are what makes a good player. The beta players seem unstoppable, but if you watch the replays you'll see they've just smoothed the rough edges from their gameplay. It's only a matter of time before the so called "beta" advantage is gone. Now I'm like rank 208 atm, not the best by any means, and I admit beta players still knock me round a fair bit. But I learn every time (another draw!?!?!) and look forward to those matches. As the community grows I'm starting to see the sort of smack talk, snide and rude comments other game lobby's have fallen too. So far I have really liked the Sup Com community, and SCL is a great site for that community. Ppl need to enjoy the struggle for top spot, suck it up and take a loss or two, and remember to say gg at the end and we'll all be ok. Now if I can just get my girlfriend to say GG at the end of every conversation the world would be perfect. Happy Gaming All, PS: Not everyone assumed to be a beta is..some of them(us) are TA fossils!!
