Archaic or required? The Minimap

The title says it all to be honest. I play with the minimap off, for the brief time I turned it on it seemed rather useless, icons too big, no detail, get a much better picture from just zooming out.

This is aimed at everyone, but if a couple of the top players could pitch in their two cents that'd be great, I put it to you...

The minimap, archaic feature of a genre evolving or a necessary tool?

Yeah, its still good for a quick look, but I am finding more and more that I don't pay much attention to it.

I find that i can be useful in the way that if you wanna see something but dont want to zoom your main cam out, you can zoom your mini map in...which i think is an amazing add to a usual mini map

And how many times do you use that?

I have it turned off. I spend a good portion of my time zoomed out so I never need it. Much rather have a couple more frames per second

I absolutely agree Poita, especially for one running such a ridiculous rig as me, I need all the performance boosts I can get!

I would use it but I prefer the 4th UI that has the minimal space and is transluscent, the minimap isn't on there.

I'm starting to get used to the letter V.
