Oi again,
So a problem I had before I got this game was that I had to ask....will this game hold attention if C&C 3 comes out only a month afterward? After playing both the demos, I found this game to be much more appealing.....but will C&C take away the already slightly small database which Supreme Commander holds? And if the threat is large, how can we keep players playing this game and staying out of the other side? |

i am afraid that this will end in a fanboy argument where both sides trow the same arguments at each other over and over again.
however, i think that both games will be sucsessfull, SupCom for his genius multiplayer part and C&C for a better singleplayer campain. |

Well, I'm not looking for a fanboy argument, but rather a way to preserve the SC community, because the game deserves to have a large community and C&C could potentially annihilate much of it.....I love the C&C series, but I'd like to see SC continue to thrive, and I'm wondering what can be done to help, say more tournaments, publicity, that sort of a thing

TA fans mostly get SC,
C&C fans will buy C&C3 This is inevitable, yet I loved the C&C games, but Generals truly screwed things up and they had to make up for that, although C&C 3 is back to Nod and GDI, it still isn't great, same old same just better movies; if i want to see movies i go to YouTube or the cinema. From what i have heard most people think just like me, C&C has screwed up; it took a hell of a long time and all we got was a few more movies. NOT worth it. I sold all my C&C games; still no regret since i got SC ![]()

CnC Generals was a step in the right direction. Workers intead of insta-build with build radius crap. I played the CnC3 demo and just thought "wtf!? this is just the SAME GAME AGAIN".
Sup Com will be a much better multiplayer game without a doubt. EA are simply clueless about competitive RTS. CnC3 will sell more though unfortunately. |

I think for now we can't get a good point view about who is the bigger / better community. To drive a game for a longer period it needs competition, and CNC3 is in a very good position since it's elected for WCG. I think for now one of the most important things is what EA and the community is going to do after WCG? are there coming more official tourneys (ESWC, WSVG, CPL, etc)? To give a reply to comments like CNC3 is crap because the multilayer part is so unbalanced en shity. If there is competition and their is money to win it doesn't matter how crap a game is. the community will modify the game by them self and do the work for EA. I played 1,5 year the FPS game Painkiller I never played such a bad FPS game but it has an one million dollar world tour for one year. and to be honest I was glad I was part of it even if the game was awful in comparison with other shooters (I was used to play Quake 3 best FPS 1v1 game imo).
I would like to add so much more detail and background info but I think you guys will fall asleep then, so I come up with my conclusion. Bad MP game + Competition with Prizemoney = People will play it anyway!

Might be true for some people, not for me though. I have played every part of the C&C series (even Renegade O.o ) and not once played TA. Still, SupCom impressed me a lot with all it's features, it's gameplay, pretty much with all of it.
Now, when I see the awesome support GPGnet offers, how the developers actually visit the forums and take advice from the gamers, how our suggestions are actually used in patches, I can't help but laugh about EA. I am sure C&C will not pose a threat to the SC community. |

The SC plyr pool is relatively modest yes, but SC is not the average RTS. Online anyway it is one of the most difficult in recent memory. The people who "get" SC will stay, no matter what, probably much longer than most online gamers stick with one title. I really feel the SC plyr pool will grow a bit more and then remain steady.
C&C will, without any doubt, have a much bigger plyr base. It's a huge franchise with actors, commercials, the whole media shabang. C&C 3 is far far, way far easier than SC in every way. Its the pop culture RTS. Now many things about C&C 3 will be cool, but I really feel that when it comes to dedicated plyrs the two titles appeal to very different gamers. PS.. I was very disappointed with C&C3 demo. I played through all of it, on all settings, every which way. For a game that cost so very much, should be a huge leap forward from C&C Generals, but its just an upgrade, with some of the nice bits learned from other RTS's thrown in.

However, sadly Poita and PacMan are on the right lines I think. CnC3 will badly outsell SupCom, because it's such a well established franchise and because some lunatic gave it a WCG spot. SupCom is probably the toughest RTS I've had to learn online (closely followed by Age of Mythology, and that was fakkin fun!), but experience has taught me that the longer it takes to master a game, the more enjoyable and long-standing it will be. SupCom will never have a wc3 scale playerbase and we'd be kidding ourselves if we thought it would, but that doesn't mean it can't blow other RTSs like CnC3 out of the water on gameplay and multiplayer. I doubt CnC3 will take much away from the SupCom community, but I also doubt that SupCom will take mucha way from the CnC3 community, so there you have it. |
