You might have heard about the "Mass Extractor Exploit" recently, well here's how it works:

This is what GPGNet has to say:

It has come to our attention that an upgrade exploit exists that allows added mass production and doubled shield capacity due to a "doubled building", and that this exploit is being used in ranked matches by some players

As the presence of a doubled building is easily detected in a replay (simply move your mouse around over a mass extractor to see the T1 and T2 extractor in the same spot), we hoped that players would be honest enough to not cheat when it is so easily detectible. This is unfortunately not the case.

GPG has means to automatically detect this exploit condition, and we view this as cheating. The minimum penalty for cheating in this instance will be the reversal of your match result, but further abuse can result in temporary or permanent suspensions from ranked games or banning from GPGnet.

This exploit will be corrected soon, but it is our expectation of all players and in particular ranked game players that you will conduct yourselves by the rules of fair play at all times. There are very few games that completely prevent cheating: there will always be a shortcut or a hack available to you. We expect more of you here. We don't allow it here.

To those of you who have not and would not cheat but who have been on the receiving end of this exploit, our apologies and we will correct this problem soon. In the meantime you can let us know of instances of cheating via the feedback system under category "Mass Exploit Cheat Report". Include the player name and replay date; Please do not ask the admins about reversing game reports; this will happen in due time and not all games will be reversed

So, even if it seems wonderful and you have a huge advantage using it:

The player you beat with this tactic WILL find out, he WILL report you and you WILL get your account / cd-key banned. Bye-bye $50

It all does seem a bit draconian doesn't it?

Still, that's a massive bug and could actually win games (double mass then your opponent, how can you reasoanbly lose!?) so it follows that a massive crackdown will be enforced, all good!
