You have to "rush". But its not really a rush. Most people are just slow. The average top player is at t2 in 10 minutes, so if they don't field t1 units immediately there would be no t1 combat.
I do think its a bit flawed on small maps though, like winter's where a fast attack bot could luck out and kill an engineer in the very beginning and literally swing the game in their favor.

One time I sent a few t1 bombers early in the game. They would have been easily brushed away, but I think that it was the other player's fault for not putting up AA. Then I just kept pumping out bombers until I won. He needs to be pretty bad to have lost to a bomber rush.

If the Nazi's didn't "rush" then they wouldn't have blitz France during World War Two. I have no problems with the rush tactic personally as it is quite reasonable as it is meant to surprise your opponent with an early attack. How I stop a rush is to perfect a build order and scout early.
I like how Regeneration sums it up. People want to build up pretty bases and treat it like Sim City expecting the other player to do the same. So when that player comes in early with a rush, that player has been taken by surprise. The rush tactic will always be a part in strategies. |

What the heck would a war be without battles? Rushing sucks when they do it to you, and it sucks when I don't understand how they beat me, then I watch the replay and he builds 1 factory faster whiles i'm building resources or something and they know better when to switch from LABS to t1 main tanks and stuff.
