The Intention of this Thread is to collect all the little things which can give an slight advantage. As I haven't played the Beta I have only a few to share right now.
1.) If one gives a build order being out of build range the ACU/Engineers tend to move closer than necessary to start building, so give a move order and then shift-assign the buildorder. (especially useful at start of game) 2.)if you are not sure about range of enemy defenses just grab an engineer and move your cursor having assigned an equal defense building right beneath aside it, so you get a better feeling for range of defense buildings 3.) u can give focus fire order-queues via shift click. I found this especially useful in aurora vs mantis battles, just don't let to many auroras fire on one mantis (7 are needed to destroy one with one salvo, so u may assign 9-12 per mantis-chain as some of your auroras will be destroyed and having assigned only 7 will lead that 2 salvos will be neede which means that many damage will be wasted (2 salvos of 5 shots are 3 shots to much). but dont forget your macro. Thats it for the moment hope u found it useful and add some more tipps&tricks cYa Last edited by RoA-Radio : 02-21-2007 at 02:49 PM. |

4.) Mass extrator upgrade: as many I tend to boost the upgrade using engineers or/and the ACU. while doing that i try to put my engineers in a clear area next to the Mex first then command them to assist (all that using SHIFT key of course). why do i do that? because my engineers often end up being idled and there is no indicator in that situation and sometimes when you have loads of other engineers around it's difficult to pick the right one.

TIP: Relay points for factories can be shift-clicked as well, so you can order units leving facotires to go AROUND those annoying neutral turrets in the center of the map, rather then running past them for a duckshoot! |

You can also shift click patrols. A patrol works by hitting P, then clicking somewhere. The unit patrols from its current location to the location you clicked. You can right click the map for it to go somewhere, then shift-click to start the patrol from there. That way he doesn't patrol across the whole map.

The Galactic Collossus is very big and strong and when there's a Nuke falling on him he won't be dead. But there's a little problem: he isn't fast.
Can you get the collossus moving faster or not? (transport or anything?) Last edited by ConneXionDVA : 03-08-2007 at 03:36 PM. |

From above! Yes if you put power beside mexes you get a power adjancy bonus so less power used by the mex!
But if you put mass storage on all sides of a mex you get Mass bonus (mutch more worth it) all tho this is best left for T2 and T3 Mexes you get 18 instad of 12 on aT3 mex :-) also put Mass storage between 2 T3 mass fabs :-) or all around but seems over the top! you can get 36 if u want from a T3 mass fab but i think a combination of T3 Powergens/power storage and T3 Mass fabs and Mass storage work really well. |
