Whoo, where to start, where to start...
Well... truth to be spoken, the first recommendation has to be 1. HnG aka Hikaru no Go I've watched this series 7 times through, and it's just too good. The show is about an old chinese board game, go (which I happen to play) and how a 6th-grader starts learning it from a old go-masters ghost. 2. Full Metal Panic!s Including the original Full Metal Panic!, Full Metal Panic?FUMOFFU!s and Full Metal Panic : The Second Raid. This is a school/humor/love/mecha-serie. And it just rocks. 3. Fullmetal Alchemist One of the best shounen(=boys) series out there. This one has an alternative world where alchemy was developed instead of technology(though they still have guns and railroads... oh well). Maybe a bit darker and sorrowful tale, but I fell in love with the series - at least it doesn't have 3-episode-long-fights and the usual hero-takes-beating-hero-goes-limit-break-BOOOOOM. 4.Death Note Definately a darker storyline, but boy! This is a different one. The story takes place in todays Japan. The plot is summarized when Ryuk, one of the charachters, says to our main charachter "So you're both trying to find a each other when you know absolutely nothing about each other, and the first one to be found dies". Absolutely worth a go. 5.Trinity Blood We all love vampires, don't we? Well, how about a race that lives by drinking vampire's blood? Yes, thank you. A futuristic earth where the three great nations are The Catholic church, Albion (aka the good ol' foggy Britain) and the Vampire Country of... can't remember the name, but it's the eastern Europe. You can imagine that the vampire country doesn't get well along with Vatican. Lots of referances to the bible, which is quite amusing and makes for a deep feeling. Other, less-but-still-good-series: Humor: Green Green Lucky Star The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Onegai Teacher/Twins Adventure: Jyu Oh Sei (though I found it as "Juuousei") Samurai Champloo Samurai Deeper Kyo The first ~60 or so episodes of Bleach/Naruto (well, I was new to the genre when I started those, don't know if they'd be still as good as I thought they were back then...) Akagi (Mah-Jongg!) I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but oh well...
