Oh my god! It's 300+ minutes... Happely you can assign more engineers to help with the construction.
But I do think ist's way to much for an accurate artillery piece.

I have played several skirmishes just testing out units, and of all the "special units" i find this the best. So long as you have the power to build it and ssutain the -5k energy each shot, its worth the investment. Two of these can oblitorate a base in minutes. Just make sure you dont have an army near by as the shots will continue to land even once the building is destroyed. Dont want your units dying from "friendly" fire.

Allright... so it is in fact a better artillery installation than the other ones?
Because for me it looks like is isn't so much better than the heavy artillery installations.

yeah the range is impossibly big, only just doesnt cover a 81x81 map. and the fire rate is faster than the UED heavy artillary.

Ok, well then... It seems that is is usefull to build one after all... even if it takes quite some time. But still... I'll use it sometimes... see if it's a pain in the *ss for the opponent and if the outcome is good... I'll love it.

If you'll ever get a mavor built, the game will end in a couple of minutes.

Why is that? If they have a counter attack ready for it? or they do something insane like bombing it or whatever the game isn't over right?

When you actually commit the resources and time to build something as expensive and as powerful as a Mavor, you should put layers and layers of defenses and shields and a fast reaction force of interceptors to protect it. If you do that, the enemy really can't do much to stop you, any air they throw at you will get chewed up by your interceptors and if you have some walls and T2 point defenses, nothing can get through. The only drawback is the huge amount of time and resources it takes to make all this happen, if your in a game this long, lol just mass bombers and kamikaze on his ACU lol

i've managed to build a mavor in 5 minutesish against a supreme ai. If you can commit the resources to it it is a game winner. The cybran rapid fire artillery is also really nice though, not as good as the mavor but can still be a game winner, i mean its rapid fire area of effect, just dont try to hit anything with it, aim for the middle of the base.

What i find is, the mavor is unfairly accurate, your commander doesnt have a hope in the plafce where the devil lives...

Ya, the Mavor is pretty much the elite artillery, it's a known fact. I saw the Cybran rapid fire artillery installation built in a 35 minute game today against CoW_Scuffy. T3 shields stop it for a pretty good amount of time.
